This announcement is also available in Italian and Taiwanese Mandarin.

The latest updates for KDE's Plasma and Applications series are now available to all Chakra users, together with other package updates. A manual intervention is needed for this upgrade, due to a preexisting file that was dropped and now reintroduced in the kde-runtime package. To properly perfom this update please follow these instructions:

$ sudo pacman -Syu > this will return the expected error

$ sudo pacman -S kde-runtime --force > this will workaround the problem

$ sudo pacman -Syu > to continue the upgrade as usual

Plasma 5.6.3 includes a month's worth of bugfixes and new translations, with the changes being related to the plasma desktop and workspace, kwin and addons.

Applications 16.04 include kcolorchooser, kfloppy, kmahjongg and krdc which have now been ported to Frameworks 5. A new music application, minuet, is also introduced. Several bugs have been fixed and many new features added to packages like the kontact suite, kdenlive, ark, okular, khelpcenter, and kleopatra.

Other notable package upgrades:

  • exiv2 0.25 and libgit2 0.24 received updates that brake backwards compatibility. If you have local packages or packages installed from CCR that depend on them you will probably have to rebuild them.
  • digikam 5.0.0-beta6
  • openjdk 8.u92
  • hugin 2016.0.0
  • kdevelop 4.90.91-1
  • zanshin 0.4.0-1
