Face it - static IP addresses are passe, and only shows one's lack of technical
sophistication. And host names only need to be assigned for inbound traffic,
not for outbound. People need to start thinking about wireless networks as
extensions to wired networks - with dynamic IP addresses, dynamic routing,
dynamic host names, and the like. Let's bring packet into the latter half
of the 20th century, for crying out loud. As it stands, amateur radio packet
has NOTHING to offer that one can't get commercially - better, faster, and
cheaper.
