The Force is strong with this one...

I knew that the iPhone would only enjoy a few years of technological
superiority. Apple energized the smartphone market and other manufacturers
by showing them just how good the user experience could be and that
customers really DID care about usability issues and would (GASP!!!) switch
carriers for a better phone that allowed them to get more things done.

I'll have enjoyed my iPhone 3G for about two years when my contract with
AT&T expires and I'm not subject to penalties when I switch off of AT&T.
It's been wonderful having a pretty full-featured, Internet-connected pocket
computer.

But with the combined forces of Chinese manufacturers' incredibly rapid
copy-improve-iterate cycle, Google's massive resources, open source
developers, a wide-open app store, AND Apple and AT&T's continued fumbling
in allowing, or not, worthy and interesting apps in to the iPhone Apps
Store...

a worthy competitor to the iPhone will emerge by then. I like the one
mentioned in this message from the name alone!

Thanks,

Steve
