An update from John.  He was the one working on a 6 meter OFDM system
as part of the HSMM project.  It's nice to see the work continues and
we may eventually get something capable of wider data than the ID-1.

The lastest version of the OFDM modem moves the microprcessor into the
FPGA and is switchable between 9600 bps and 1.2 Mbps (using 6 and 800
kHz bandwidths). The winter 2009 TAPR newsletter has a description of
the soft processor and this is augmented by dedicated logic that does
most of the signal processing for analog voice and OFDM. It works
nicely between 2 boards on the bench with a multipath simulator but
I'm still experimenting with the outer error-correcting code to make
it more suitable for HF at 9600 bps. I should be ready to do more
on-air testing in a few weeks.
