Sorry to hear of this Michelle. Gene was indeed a good friend. He will be missed, but remembered fondly.

Subject: [mkarc] EX- WA7TAI, Gene Jacobson SK 1-12-2018

Hi Members, especially old timers,
I just returned from Camano Isl. where I learned at one of my old
breakfast haunts this morning that Gene Jacobson WA7TAI had passed away
on 1/12/18. Gene joined the Club in 1974 and remained very active to
the 1990's. After a career at Puget Power, he moved from Kirkland to
Camano and built a nice home on a 5 acre spread. Selected high for a
ham location, he along with W7GPW put together quite an impressive
antenna farm. He was very active on UHF and packet operation. Around
2005, Gene decided to dispose of all the things accumulated and moved to
a retirement home in Stanwood..
We had lots of adventures together; going to Hawaii for 2 weeks in
1984 and operating HF from a new location every night., going to Dayton
3 times, Flying with W7MCU to Canada for fishing, and to many Hamfests
over the years. On May 18, 1980 we were headed to the Yakima Hamfest
and got caught up in the Mt. St. Helens eruption and spent 3 days in
Thorrp WA. running welfare traffic from the High School Gym. Throughout
the 70's he was involved in public service communications and attended
many of our Field Days at Marrowstone Island.
He will be missed, he was a good friend.

de: WB7AYU, Michelle Cross
